Donation to the Nevada City Rancheria

Before the Gold Rush, there were an estimated 4,000 Northern Maidu or Nisenan Native Americans inhabiting the Nevada City area. These Indigenous peoples were persecuted and displaced beginning in 1848, when discovery of gold in California brought the first white settlers to the area. We recognize that the existence of present-day Nevada City is directly linked to the destructive legacy of settler-colonialism. To honor and support the restoration of the traditional homeland of the Nisenan people, please join us in making a contribution to tribal efforts to regain federal recognition of the Nevada City Rancheria.
